There are so many things to love about Asheville, North Carolina. First, there’s the beautiful weather throughout much of the year. Do we get a few cold days in winter? Yes, sometimes we even get snow or freezing rain. But for the most part, the weather is pleasant with mild winters that don’t get nearly as cold as the Midwest and Northeast and summers are gorgeous and not nearly as hot as even the cities east of us in North Carolina.

Another great thing about Asheville is that it’s smack in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains, so if you like nature and beautiful views and scenery, you’re surrounded by them here! Ever heard of the Blue Ridge Parkway? It’s an official All-American Road designated so because of its scenic beauty, and it runs right past our gorgeous city. But that’s not all we offer outdoor lovers. If you’ve never been whitewater kayaking, this is a great place to give it a try. People come from all over the world to kayak through our beautiful waterways.  We also have plenty of beautiful parks and the amazing Asheville Botanical Gardens. So if you’re looking for things to do in Asheville, you’ll probably be overwhelmed by the list you come up with.

What else is there to love about Asheville? Well, how about the food! Asheville has a variety of restaurants sure to please every palate you may be traveling with. Like BBQ? Try Luella’s, which is a favorite of both locals and visitors thanks to menu choices like pulled pork, chile rubbed brisket, fall of the bone baby back ribs and delicious homemade sides like macaroni and cheese and green chile cheese grits. Asheville is also home to a large number of vegetarian and vegetarian friendly restaurants, and was even voted “most vegetarian-friendly small city” by PETA.

These are just a few of the things I love about Asheville, North Carolina. If you ever get the chance to visit, I’m sure you will love it too.
